This workshop is for you if:

  • You struggle with not being “school smart”

  • You like to work with your hands and create things or fix things

  • You are interested in learning about going into the trades

Workshop details:

This workshop will help you learn more about how to create a career path that is right for you. Jared Nicholson never expected to be talking to a group of students about a successful career. You are a unique individual and have your own strengths, but traditionally school doesn’t always help you learn them. It took Jared a long time to figure out his career path, but along the way he has learned some tips and tricks that he is excited to share with you. He will talk with you about the skills that are useful in a plumbing career and how it can lead you to the life you desire.

Meet Jared Nicholson

Plumber, ARS/Rescue Rooter

Jared Nicholson never expected to be talking to a group of students about a successful career. As someone who struggled his entire life with ADHD and dyslexia, he never expected to find himself back in a school, excited and grateful to share what possibilities are out there for each of you to experience.

  • Now: Journeyman and Field Trainer and  for a national plumbing company after only eight years in the trade.

  • Now: a life full of love, laughter, a happy home, and a job he is excited to go to every day - something he didn’t believe he would ever have.

  • Nine years ago: struggling to raise two daughters as a single dad doing backbreaking work in construction with few opportunities to move up or move forward

  • Nine years ago: living with the frustration and paralytic fear of his ADHD and dyslexia, while in the shadow of competitive and successful brothers in an East Coast, Irish Catholic family
